The Refuge is dedicated to the blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati.
When he was young, he was very fond of mountain, and in his short life (he died when he was only 24 because of a fulminating poliomyelitis) he spent a lot of energy in favour of poor people.
These two characteristics of the blessed there were also during the construction of the refuge:
a look upward, to the mountain top...
a look downward, to poor people.
